Dr Satyakam Baruah

Biography

Dr. Satyakam Baruah is a Neurosurgeon with extensive training in Epilepsy Surgery at the renowned Montreal Neurological Institute in Canada. He completed his Neurosurgical training at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, India. Following his completion of a neurosurgical residency, he subsequently joined Medanta The Medicity Gurgaon, where he worked with the greatest level of ethics for health care services at the highest level of health care standards comparable to international best practice protocols, first as a Consultant and later as a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon. 

Dr. Baruah has experience across the entire continuum of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery systems including the simplest to more complex Neuroendoscopy for Brain Surgery and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. While on a clinical fellowship in Epilepsy Surgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute in Canada, he had a great deal of exposure to the highest standards of care in Epilepsy Surgery which no other institution in the world, as historic and internationally recognized as the MNI, would be able to provide. 

During his time training with Dr Andrea Olivere and Dr Jeffery A Hall, he received a diverse exposure to a broad range of delicate surgical procedures for the treatment of epilepsy and brain tumors, ranging from traditional open procedures to minimally invasive procedures including thermocoagulation as well as Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (Laser aided NeuroSurgery Zero). He was an Active member of the MNI Robotic StereoEEG Team from 2018-2019, and he is still part of that team. 

His training in Montreal has educated him an extensive hands on experience with advanced procedures including Robotic StereoEEG, Neuromodulatory procedures such as VNS, DBS Epilepsy. His main areas of interest in Epilepsy Surgery, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Precision Excision of Brain Tumors in Eloquent regions, Functional Neurosurgery, Neuroendoscopy and Robotics.
