Biography

Mr. Mallikarjun Kalashetty is an HOD & Consultant-Clinical Haematology & Heamtology-Oncology at Manipal Hospital, Old Airport Road, Bangalore. He has a great variety of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of blood, bone marrow, and the lymphatic systems. This includes both malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders, such as Various Acute and Chronic Lymphoid Leukemias, as well as Multiple Myelomas. Disorders of the RBCs include Nutritional and Aplastic Anaemias, Sickle Cell As well as Iron overload disorders, and other disorders like beta-thalassaemia and genetic and familial types of hemolytic anemias; disorders of the platelets such as Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP); Various Thrombotic Disorders like Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and other thromboembolic disorders; many other disorders of the blood system.

Dr. Kalashetty has developed an international reputation for his ability to successfully perform blood and bone marrow transplants for patients with many Non-Malignant and Malignant diseases. In addition, he is highly skilled at assessing and treating Haematologic Complications that may arise during pregnancy and after childbirth and has extensive experience in the management of such complications. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Mallikarjun Kalashetty has shown a commitment to achieving academic excellence. Following his MBBS and MD degrees in general medicine (Seth G S Medical College), he completed a DM degree and advanced specialization in Clinical Haematology with post-graduate studies at K E M Hospital in Mumbai. In addition, he completed a one-year Fellowship in Bone Marrow Transplantation at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada, demonstrating a commitment to staying at the forefront of modern transplant technologies. Following his Fellowship training, Dr. Mallikarjun Kalashetty returned to India and took on a leadership position at HCG MSR Cancer Centre, affiliated with M S Ramaiah Medical College, in Bangalore. There, he founded Stem Cell Transplantation and Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Programs.
