Biography
Dr. Naresh Trehan is now the Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta - The Medicity Hospital, located in Gurgaon.
Naresh Trehan studied MBBS in India and worked at the New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, USA, from 1971 to 1988.
He returned back to India in 1988 and began working at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center.
He has received many awards, such as the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Shri, the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award.
He has performed over 48,000 heart surgeries, including minimally invasive coronary artery surgery, reduction ventriculoplasty (Batista Operation), heart port access surgery, coronary artery surgery, valve surgery, carotid artery surgery, aortic aneurysm surgery, cardiomyoplasty, surgery for cardiac arrhythmias, and robotically assisted cardiac surgery, with excellent outcomes. Many of these surgeries were performed for the first time in India.
