The Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Fortis Hospital Mulund, Dr Kaushal Malhan, is a leader in the development of Minimally Invasive Surgery for the knee and hip joints. In addition to his role as director, he also established the Regional Joint Replacement Centre for Western India in 2009 at Fortis Hospital Mulund and continues to support and promote research in Joint Replacement surgery actively. His medical technique to perform Total Knee Replacement surgery using the "Tissue Preserving" technique, also known as TPTKR, has set records for the fastest recovery from total knee replacement surgery according to the Limca Book of Records.
Dr Malhan is at the forefront of developing customized, high-flexibility, total knee replacement and partial knee resurfacing surgeries. He has developed numerous surgical techniques that have modernized how hip reconstructive surgery is performed. He is the only surgeon in India performing total hip replacements through the direct anterior approach. As an internationally recognized surgeon, Dr Malhan has traveled to numerous countries to deliver lectures and perform instructional surgical procedures.
