Dr. Naveen Polavarapu

Biography

With more than 36000 advanced procedures completed during his 24-year career as a Medical Professional, Dr. Naveen Polavarapu is one of the most experienced advanced endoscopists and endosonographers in the country. He has performed over 30000 gastrointestinal endoscopies, over 10000 colonoscopies, and nearly 9000 ERCPs and 9000 EUS.

Dr. Naveen Polavarapu graduated from NTR University of Health Sciences in 2001 with an MBBS degree and received multiple awards, including best outgoing student. After earning his medical degree, he trained in the UK, where he was awarded the Fellowship in Gastroenterology (FRCP) and membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) at the Liverpool Deanery. His extensive training has included several prestigious institutions throughout the UK and globally. Following his medical education, he completed an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Training at Aintree University Hospital (UK); and a Continuous Care in Liver Transplantation Fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham, UK), one of the most prominent liver transplant centres in the world, which had performed over 4000 liver transplants as of 2012.

Dr Naveen\'s has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles/chapter on cholangiocarcinoma (bile Duct cancers), along with participating to international conferences (BSG, UEGW, and AASLD) presenting several different abstracts and receiving best poster awards at both BSG and UEGW.

Teaching has always been Dr Naveen\'s passion. Since returning to India in 2014, he continued teaching during his busy clinical schedule through the MRCP. He was appointed an examiner for MRCP PACES by the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2018. He mentors international students including Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Kenya, Afghanistan, the USA, New Zealand, and Bangladesh by providing hands-on experience with many endoscopic procedures. He is also the Director of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Medvarsity University, India.
